The Life in Business: Aloha Business Services
Jeff Turner came to the Big Island 20 years ago. As a CPA who also had real-life experience as an entrepreneur, he found he understood the challenges of business owners better than most accountants. He started serving Kona clients in 1994 and broadened his services in 2002, along with adopting the name, Aloha Business Services. The name, he says, reflects his full service approach to business assistance and consulting.
As Jeff added clients, he added services to support them, including consulting, bookkeeping, payroll, and e-pay solutions. Last year he partnered with Jim Primm with the goal of bringing special tax expertise to help his clients. Jim worked for the IRS as an auditor, later as a controller for banks, and then as a CFO for a commercial real estate developer. He has spent the last 25 years as a CPA in private practice.
Together, they now provide professional bookkeeping, accounting, and payroll services.
“We know that running a successful business today requires access to accurate and current financial information so that day-to-day business decisions can be made based on facts, not guesses,” says Turner.
Jeff has also been very active in the Hawai‘i Island community as a passionate environmentalist. He helped start Recycle Hawai‘i, the Kona Brewers Festival, and the Kona Earth Festival. He has been involved with the Chamber’s Environment and Natural Resources Committee as well as the Kuleana Green Business Program.
With this focus in mind, Jeff is introducing a 21st Century Online Accounting Solution. It is interactive and convenient for clients, and allows them up-to-the-minute information about their business. He says, “The green side is that it saves paper, time, gas, and space while offering secure, anytime information on your business anywhere you have access to a web browser.“
